Until Lorroakan turns up looking for his errant apprentice and comes face to face with his estranged wife - Tav. Lorroakan is furious and determined to make both Rolan and Tav pay for leaving him, before he drags them back where they belong.

But Tav and Rolan aren't alone now. They have Gale and friends who refuse to let anyone hurt them. Gale is only too pleased to show Lorroakan how deadly the chosen of Mystra past or present can be - and it won't be quick...

Fem!Tav finds herself falling *hard* for Gale during their travels, and Gale isn't far behind. When Mystra finally has the 'decency' to stablise Gale's orb at least for now, Gale and Tav are finally free to persue each other.

But it's not that simple.

Tav gradually opens up to Gale and their companions. Her ex is also a powerful, power hungrey wizard. She tried to save him and he almost killed Tav (quite literally). She wants Gale but she's scared, so scared history will repeat itself. Because she isn't sure she can walk away form Gale but she can't watch his ambition swallow him - them.

Can Gale convince her he's not like her ex and reel in his lust for power - for her? That he won't ever, ever hurt her - in any way? and if he ever was foolish enough, he'd willing let their companions tear him apart for it.

+ they run into Tav's ex - still really powerful wizard, but his life is dark and miserable - he wants Tav back but still craves more power despite it messing up his life. It's a very sobering mirror for Gale to look into and a potnetial future he could face
+ Tav is afraid of Gale's ambitious, lust for power and he'll leave her/hurt her
+ Ex tries to force Tav to get back with him - Tav freezes and Gale and the companions go all BAMF to help her
+ Tav has some bad scaring from her ex when she almost died. She eventually tells Gale what happened and it infuriates him how easily Tav could've died. It leads to some very frank conversations between them and eventually strengthens their relationship
+ This happens during Gale lusting for the crown
+ Tav works tirelessly to turn people away from power (stops Astarion ascending, Shadowheart saves Nightsong, her family etc) because of her ex and she's seen how dangerous power can be
+ Tav has absolutely no desire for power - hates it in fact
+ This makes her very interesting/curious to Raphael, Emporer, Mizora etc
+ Gale gets very protective of Tav esp round her ex

Maybe Wyll did not properly parse that part of his pact when he agreed to it. Maybe he did and it seemed like a reasonable trade off at the time. But Mizora has him in a chastity cage. He only gets to use his cock or come with her say so.

It’s magical too, so there’s none of that pesky cleaning business or any reason it ever has to come off. (And it’s maybe magical enough there’s no way to pick the lock.)

+ Wyll is slow to get into a sexual relationship because he is a slow moving guy, but also because he is too embarassed to be able to explain the cage situation, or it’s part of his pact that Mizora swore him to secrecy so he actually can’t explain it.

The grief-stricken party continues on without Wyll. Mizora still shows up to help in the fight/try and tempt someone into making a pact with her, all while taunting them with the knowledge of Wyll's eternal suffering as a lemure. She knows from spying through Wyll just how much he and Karlach liked each other (even if they didn't act on it) and knows just how to twist the knife with her specifically.

Meanwhile, Wyll is surprised to find he's not been turned into a flesh monster, but is being treated (comparatively) well as Mizora's pet prisoner instead. Except for all the psychological torture about how the party failed to defeat the Absolute or save his father and they all died terrible deaths for nothing and actually probably didn't even care for Wyll anyway, so tragic.

Cue a dramatic emotional reunion and rescue when Karlach busts down the door with the rest of their very much alive party intent on avenging Wyll. And then they fuck tenderly in Mizora's bed or smth while everyone else does a sidequest to fix Karlach's engine idk

+ Feel free to take Wyll's torture situation in a different or more extreme direction as you like, I just care about the mutual presumed dead part

+ Mizora's taunting is what makes one or both of them realize they had feelings for the other

Fem!Tav saved Baldur's Gate, and managed to do it without sucumbing to deals or pacts, not to Raphael, to the Emporer, Gortash, Mizora, Ethel or any other power-hungry scumbag out there. She managed to save her companions, stopped Shadowheart becoming Shar's slave, convinced Lae'zel to follow her own path, free from Vlakith and Orpheus, freed Wyll from Mizora's pact (and saved Duke Ravenguard no less)...yet the two she loved most, she couldn't save.

Gale goes off to seek the Crown and godhood, despite promising her he wouldn't, and Astarion refused to listen to Tav and became Ascended. Both men promise her they love her, that they can give her anything, that she can have umlimited power - but that's the thing. All Tav wants is peace and quiet. She can't watch as she sees them men she loved change, become cold and power hungry, no matter what they promise her. They're not the men she fell in love with.

Tav is done. Heartbroken over Gale and Astarion's choices, and how she sees them changing she just leaves. Then comes their reunion, and Tav doesn't appear. No one knows where she is, or if they do, the other companions sure as hell aren't telling Gale/Dekarios or Astarion. But when word gets out that Tav needs help, how far are Gale and Astarion prepared to go - how much are they willing to sacrifice to save the woman they both claim to love so dearly? The woman who saved both men before they realised they needed saving? But saving Tav this time will be no small feat. It will require all the companions to work together, but more is still needed. To protect Tav, to save her a scarifice is required.

Are they prepared to give up godhood and immortality for love?

Gale and fem!Tav are in love and is it's all terribly romantic and rather sad how much Tav and Gale are pining for each other because of orbs, end of the world and other stuff. Gale feels unworthy of Tav, and Tav wonders if Gale could even love her after Mystra - after all, Tav is just a boring mortal.

Gale also knows several other companions are drawn to Tav and he's trying very hard to keep his jealousy at bey, but when he sees Wyll, young, romantic, chivalric, gentleman-y Wyll, dancing with Tav at camp, it's almost too much. Wyll is a noble, pure of heart and Gale is a reject of a goddess with a literal timebomb in his chest. He wants to prove to Tav he's not just his magic.

Of course, step in Astarion who is all too willing to 'advise' Gale how to woo and wow in truly courtly fashion without the aid of magic because let's face it, Tav's a catch and he's got some stiff competetion. Because if anyone deserves to be swept off her feet, literally and figuratively it's Tav.

Then they encounter a vampire- one that's just blatantly evil, preying on innocents, the whole deal. Wyll, seasoned monster-hunter that he is, incapacitates and kills them efficiently and easily. After, he worries that he's unsettled Astarion...

But surprise! Astarion isn't upset- in fact, he was incredibly turned on by the whole display.

So there's a scene you can have with Gale at Moonrise Towers with trying to fix a broken moon lantern with dark magic. Gale says this as Mystra's chosen was his 'bread and butter' and is expert at this stuff. You can then point out he's the former chosen to which Gale says is charming and he hopes is due to shadowlands, it's really funny if you're romancing him because you can kiss after.

so the prompt...what if Gale is unknowingly right - that the Shadowlands IS affecting Tav mentally/personality wise? WHen fem!Tav taunts Gale about being Mystra's former chosen, it catches everyone off guard. Tav loves Gale, not to mention Tav is sweetness and light personified, it's actually rather sickening to some companions how *nice* she is. Typical heroic type. But when Tav starts having more sudden snide, mean outbursts the longer they're in Shadow lands, it becomes increasingly clear the shadowlands is having some effect on Tav, and Gale and their companions are determined to help her.

+ Tav starts having nightmares, anxiety etc that Gale comforts her from.
+ Halsin realises there's something (magic? shadow weave? possession?) that's affecting Tav and making her act out of character

Lae'zel finds Lilarcor (who is basically a really stupid, pop-culture spouting sword who REALLY likes killing things and hates forges from BG II) and her and the Companions have to put up with his tomfoolery.

+Minsc finds out that she has Lilarcor, and tries his absolute hardest to get him back from her because "Boo (aka HE) missed him."

Tav sides with the goblins to massacre the grove. Not all of their companions are willing to travel with them after that, but Tav is fine with an unwilling companion. After all, the camp could use some more pets.

It could be Wyll or Karlach forced to stay, or Halsin either picked out from the cage as a pet or captured when he tries to get revenge on the grove. Or all of the above, even!

Wyll and Karlach are packing up their tents, when the rest of the party return to camp, blood soaked and victorious.

“You really did it,” Wyll says, the shock worn down into resignation. “Did any of them escape?”

“They’re dead,” Gale says. “They’re all…they’re all dead.” His hands are shaking, and he can’t meet either of them in the eye.

“I didn’t escape the Hells to lose my soul to something else,” Karlach says, moving to stand like a firm wall behind Wyll. “We won’t be part of this anymore. We’re gone.”

“I know,” Tav says, simply. “There’s nothing to say, to get you to continue with us?”

“I’d rather die a mindflayer than stand back and watch you slaughter more innocents,” Wyll declares. “If our paths cross again, it’ll be with blades drawn.”

“I wanted you to fight beside us, but we don’t always get what we want,” Tav remarks, then sighs. “If this is the way it has to go, then so be it.”

Before either Wyll or Karlach can react, Tav casts Hold Person, the spell targeting both of them, and binding them in place, unable to move more than their eyes. Both are frozen mid-reach for their respective weapons, and their eyes are left wide with shock and fear.

“Did you really think I’d just let you leave?” Tav asks, looking over the pair of them. “Strip his armor off, then bind his wrists and gag him. We don’t need to waste time chasing after him if he teleports,” they order, tossing a bundle of rope towards where Astarion and Shadowheart stand, then pulling out manacles and chains as they step towards Karlach.

“What are you doing?” Gale asks, horror and panic evident in his face and voice.

“The artifact is the only thing keeping us ourselves. If they leave, either they become more true souls - and warn the cult what we’re planning - or they become mindflayers. None of us want that.” They lock a set of manacles around Karlach’s wrists.

“You should give them a quick death,” Lae’zel retorts, but doesn’t step forward to intervene. It’s simple work, to bind someone being magically restrained.

“It would be such a waste, though,” Tav says, locking cuffs around Karlach’s ankles, then pushing her down to her knees to fasten them to the ones on her wrists. “We could use some more pets in camp, don’t you think?”

“So the wholesale slaughter of innocents isn’t enough? Instead, you want to demean and assault members of our party?”

“They chose this,” Tav says, stepping closer to Gale. “And let’s not pretend your hands are clean of any of this, Gale of Waterdeep. You could have done what they did - fought back, tried to leave. But I saw you, at the Grove. It doesn’t matter to you, who gets caught up in your fireballs - you can cling to these morals all you’d like, but in your heart, all you care about is power and survival. We’re the same.”

“No, we’re not,” Gale bites back, but doesn’t pull away.

“You should know better than anyone, survival is all that matters,” Tav cups the side of his face gently. “So, what will it be? Do you stand with me, or against me?”

There’s a long pause, before Gale finally bows his head. “With you,” he says. “But don’t expect me to participate in…this.”

“Good boy.” They pat his cheek, and turn back to Karlach and Wyll. There’s a muffled shout, as Wyll finally breaking free of the spell’s bindings - too late to offer any real struggle, but he pulls away from Astarion, hands struggling to slip free of the ropes.

The vampire kicks him to the ground and presses a boot into his chest. “I have to say, I rather like having a monster hunter tied up at my feet. It’s a good look on you, oh Blade of Frontiers.”

Wyll tries to kick back, knock Astarion away, but all he can manage is to writhe on the ground, helpless.

“Let him go!” Karlach shouts out, as the spell ends on her as well, the flames of her engine burning hot around her in rage even as the chains keep her from moving. “Don’t you dare touch him!”
